Is Rohit Sharma’s time up now…?

India (Common Wealth) _ Sport is all about winning championships, and Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, has made it clear that he wants to take home one or two major championships before relinquishing the captaincy of Indian Cricket.

The World Test Championship final between India and Australia, which begins on Wednesday at The Oval, has been the subject of frequent discussion on India’s failure to win an ICC championship in the previous ten years despite several opportunities.

After Virat Kohli resigned as captain across all formats following the Test series loss in South Africa in early 2022, Rohit had taken over. Rohit was questioned about the legacy he wanted to leave as captain the day before the important final.

“Whether it was myself or another person, even the previous men, their job was to advance Indian cricket and win as many matches and titles as they could. The same will apply to me as well. I desire victory in games and championships. You play for that,” Rohit remarked at the news conference prior to the game. “And yes, winning some titles and outstanding series will be good.

But having said that, I honestly believe that we shouldn’t overthink these kinds of things to the point where we put undue strain on ourselves.

“As I stated, every captain wants to lead their team to a title, and I won’t be any different. I likewise desire a championship. That’s all. And winning championships is the main goal of the sport. So when I decide to leave this position, it would be good for me if I could win one or two titles.

Rohit was one of the four squad members that showed up for an optional practice on another chilly and cloudy morning in London. R Ashwin, Umesh, and K S Bharat were the others who showed up in the morning session along with the net bowlers.

Australia and India will play each other in the second-ever ICC World Test Championship Final beginning on June 7 at The Oval in a winner-takes-all match.

India will participate in their second World Test Championship Final after falling to New Zealand in the first one in 2021, and Australia will make their first after winning the current cycle’s standings.

The ICC World Test Championship mace and a sizeable percentage of the enormous WTC prize pool will be given to the victor.

In the event that the World Test Championship Final is tied, drawn, or abandoned, Australia and India will be named the co-champions.
