Karnataka designates two hospitals for children and pregnant women

Bengaluru, India (CU)_ Due to the unexpected increase in the number of Covid cases among youngsters and pregnant women, the government of Karnataka designated two hospitals solely for their treatment. The Commissionerate of Health and Family Welfare Services has designated the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health in the Siddapura neighborhood as a Pediatric Covid treatment facility. Ghousia Maternity Hospital in Shivajinagar is also allotted exclusively for pregnant ladies and kids who have contracted Covid infection.

With the commencement of the third wave of Covid-19 and a dramatic increase in the number of positive cases in children and women, it is critical to establish dedicated treatment facilities to care for them. According to the latest circular issued on Monday, these two hospitals have been designated as Covid-19 facilities, with immediate effect, to treat primarily children and pregnant women.

Within the last 24 hours, Bengaluru alone has registered 274 youngsters in the age group of 9 years who tested positive for Covid-19. There have been 898 Covid positive cases in the age category of 10 to 19 years. In the past 24 hours, a total of 34 children under the age group of 9 years and 91 children between the age group of 10 to 19 years had been cured from the viral infection.

The Health Department’s figures demonstrate the seriousness of the issue and the quick transmission of the infection. The Health Department made this decision based on the proposal of the government-appointed technical advisory council, which is tasked with tracking and managing the Covid outbreak in the state.
