LONDON (CU)_The Duchess of Cambridge hosted a Christmas carol service on Wednesday (8 Dec), at Westminster Abbey. She attended the event in a festive red bow-adorned coat dress, alongside her husband Prince William, who complemented her in a suit with a red tie. Several other members of the Royal Family, including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Zara and Mike Tindall and the Countess of Wessex, as well as the Middletons, were also present at the occasion.

During the Together at Christmas service, the Duchess of Cambridge shared a special Christmas message about the power of the annual festival. “Christmas is a time when we can reflect on the past, listen to one another, focus on the relationships that nurture us and build our resilience, so we can look forward to a brighter shared future,” she wrote. “My hope is that this Service creates a moment for us to do this together. Over the next hour we will celebrate the power of this time of year. And I wish you all the very best for the year ahead.”

Individuals who met the Duke and Duchess during recent engagements, as well as people from organizations which have a royal patron and armed forces personnel who were involved in the evacuation from Afghanistan, were among those invited for what was described by Kate as “a very special Carol Service at the end of what has been another extraordinary year.” Writing about the challenges faced by everyone amid the pandemic, she highlighted the importance of “simply being together” proving comfort during these trying times.

“In our roles, William and I are so fortunate to meet and spend time with phenomenal people across the country who day-in day-out support individuals and families. And over the past two years, we have been truly inspired by countless people who have brought their communities together through simple acts of love and kindness,” the Duchess continued. “This Carol Service is our small way of recognising the inspiring contribution so many of you have made.”
