During the Kenya-Israel Agribusiness Roadshow, Lotem stated that “the leading Israeli technological, financial, and agricultural enterprises are seeking strategic business development and partnership prospects that would boost Kenya’s food security.” Israeli businessmen are eager to invest in Kenya’s agricultural industry, which has not yet reached its full potential, a government official said on Tuesday.

Israel’s ambassador to Kenya, Michael Lotem, told reporters in Nairobi, the nation’s capital, that the agriculture industry in Kenya has a lot of prospects because of the country’s abundance of fertile land and growing population. Israel, the ambassador said, is a pioneer in precision agriculture, which increases farmer yields by using drones, sensors, and farm management software. A thriving agribusiness sector has the potential to be a significant catalyst for change, according to Oscar Magenya, Secretary of Research and Innovation at Kenya’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives. According to official statistics, the agricultural industry produces more than 33 percent of the country’s GDP, employs 40 percent of the workforce, and generates 65 percent of export revenue.

To reduce production costs and increase the competitiveness of locally produced agricultural goods on the international market, Magenya further stated that Kenya is looking to Israel for these innovations. According to his observation, Kenya will likewise make use of contemporary technology to transition from being a net importer of food to an exporter of food.
