It added that a red and amber weather warning for heavy rainfall and severe wind had been issued for Aberdeenshire which was expected to cause severe flooding and disruption.  It said they would be monitoring the conditions and provide a further update on our weekend opening hours this Friday.

Scotland security officials have issued flood warnings across the area on Thursday and warned people not to travel across Angus and South Aberdeenshire.

The red Met Office warning says that in Aberdeenshire and Angus in eastern Scotland, from 6 pm there is “danger to life from fast-flowing or deep floodwater” with extensive road closures expected.

The 50,000 acre grounds of the estate but not the castle, are currently supposed to be open seven days a week free of charge, to the public.

But people were warned by Police Scotland not to travel across Angus and South Aberdeenshire and issued flood warnings across the area today.

King Charles, Prince William and Harry’s father who was at Balmoral earlier this week, returned to London to attend a dinner at the Mansion House in the City on Wednesday evening.
