Latest Bollywood remakes of South Indian films!

Mumbai, India (CU)_ The Bollywood industry’s practice of remaking films from other languages and even their own is trending now. Here are some latest remakes in Bollywood that are now in production.

Kaithi (Tamil)

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn recently unveiled his next movie, Bholaa. Once again reuniting with Tabu, this 2023 release is a remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Tamil film Kaithi in 2019.

The Great Indian Kitchen (Malayalam)

To begin, Jeo Baby’s critically acclaimed Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen is ready for remake in Hindi. Sanya Malhotra, who starred in Pataakha, has been cast alongside Love Story 2050 actor Harman Baweja, who is producing the film through his Baweja Studios. Arati Kadav of Cargo fame will helm the content-driven drama, which was revealed in February.

Anniyan (Tamil)

Ranveer Singh is actively promoting Jayeshbhai Jordaar, his forthcoming original film. He will, however, shortly fill Vikram’s place in the remake of Tamil movie Anniyan. S. Shankar, the filmmaker of the 2005 psychological thriller, will also handle the Hindi adaptation, as announced a year ago. The film will be produced by Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios). To note, the film has won a National Film Award.

Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (Telugu)

When Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo was released in 2020, it was a huge hit. Now, the Telugu film is being recreated in Hindi as Shehzada. Kartik Aaryan’s lead role was announced last year, and the film commenced production in October 2021. The original version was written and directed by Trivikram Srinivas, and Rohit Dhawan will direct Shehzada. The female lead is played by Kriti Sanon.

Driving License (Malayalam)

Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi welcomed the female leads Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty on board their collaborative endeavor, Selfiee, in March of this year. This comedy is a replica of the popular Malayalam film Driving Licence from 2019. Suraj Venjaramoodu and Prithviraj Sukumaran had appeared in the original, portraying Akshay Kumar and Imbran Hashmi, respectively. Akshay released a humorous trailer of the project in January.

HIT: The First Case (Telugu)

This is another Telugu movie ready for remake starring Malhotra. The Ludo star will appear in the upcoming remake of HIT: The First Case. The shoot, which was the first collaboration with Rajkummar Rao, concluded this week. The Telugu version, which starred Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma, was a smash hit. Sailesh Kolanu, who directed the original, will again head this adaptation.
