London declares a major incident to support hospitals impacted by COVID

London, United Kingdom (CU)_ London Mayor Sadiq Khan declared a major incident in order to assist the city’s hospitals in dealing with an increase in COVID-19 infections caused by the rapidly spreading Omicron coronavirus strain. After Britain recorded the highest 24-hour surge in new cases on Friday since the inception of the pandemic, Khan made the move, which enables better cooperation between several government departments.
