Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_ Tamil cinema star and international racing driver Ajith Kumar has received a special recognition from the Mahindra Group for his dedication to motorsports. The company presented him with the world’s first Formula E–themed sport utility vehicle, the Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition, valued at around ₹30 lakh. The unique gift was handed over by R. Velusamy, President of Automotive Technology and Product Development at Mahindra & Mahindra. He personally met Ajith Kumar in Chennai and presented the keys to the vehicle, acknowledging the actor’s strong passion for racing and his growing presence in international motorsport events.

Ajith Kumar has recently been actively participating in global racing competitions through his own team, Ajith Kumar Racing. The actor had just returned to Chennai after taking part in a race in Dubai when the surprise gift awaited him. According to reports, Ajith had remained in Dubai longer than expected due to security concerns following attacks in the city, which delayed his return to India. After he finally arrived in Chennai, Mahindra officials arranged the special presentation as a gesture of appreciation for his commitment to motorsports.
The BE 6 Formula E Edition is not an ordinary road vehicle. It represents more than a decade of Mahindra’s experience in electric racing, especially through its participation in the Formula E championship. Accordingly, engineers have incorporated design elements and technology inspired by the company’s racing program into this limited-edition SUV. The vehicle stands out with its exclusive racing-inspired design, including special graphics and the striking “Tango Red” color scheme often seen in Formula E cars.

Under the hood, the electric SUV is powered by a 79 kWh battery pack that can deliver an estimated driving range of around 683 kilometers on a single charge, according to certification from the Automotive Research Association of India. Inside the car, the sporty theme continues with racing-style seats and a start–stop switch inspired by motorsport technology. The model is part of the BE 6 electric series but produced as a special edition, making it a rare addition to Ajith Kumar’s already impressive car collection.
Ajith is known for owning several high-end vehicles, including the McLaren Senna and Ferrari models. However, this electric SUV is considered particularly meaningful because it was gifted by an Indian automotive company in recognition of his racing spirit. Ajith’s connection with Mahindra Racing goes back to last year, when he took part in a test drive of the Mahindra Formula E Gen2 car at the Andalucia circuit in Andalucia. The experience allowed him to drive the electric race car and interact closely with the engineering and racing team.

Ajith’s driving performance during that session impressed many within the motorsport community. Anand Mahindra later complimented the actor on social media, calling him a “superb blend of speed and style.” Ajith Kumar, known for his lifelong passion for motorbikes and fast cars, has continued to pique the interest of people across the world with his increasing engagement in professional racing. As he prepares for his forthcoming film, AK 64, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, Mahindra’s notable honor adds another remarkable chapter to his adventure on screen and on the track.
