Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (CU)_ Malaysia’s Minister of Human Resources, M. Saravanan, announced that the portal for employing foreign employees will open in the near future. Having said that, M. Saravanan advised employers not to apply through intermediaries or third parties in order to prevent being cheated. The Malaysian Minister also advised companies that they should be ready to submit their estimates through the site following the opening of the portal for recruiting foreign employees.

The news was announced following a meeting with PIKAP (Malaysian National Association of Employment Agencies) to get opinion on issues associated with foreign worker recruitment, since the agency will be assisting in the processing of foreign worker applications.

According to the announcement made in December 2021, Malaysia employers are permitted to rehire foreign employees with a valid temporary working visit pass, Pas Lawatan Kerja Sementara, or PLKS, under the Rehiring Programme on an annual basis, up to a maximum of five years.

The media reported, “At the Cabinet meeting on December 10, it was agreed that foreign worker recruitment is open to all sectors other than the plantation sector. Permitted sectors are agriculture, manufacturing, services, mining and quarrying, construction, and domestic helpers.”

On account of this, the Minister warned firms to avoid applying for foreign labor through middlemen or third parties in order to avoid being defrauded. He cautioned about the recruitment agencies. He said, “Use the services of a private employment agency that is registered and has a license certified by the Department of Manpower.”
