Pittsburgh, PA (Commonwealth Union)_ Mia Bhuta, the 16-year-old from Pennsylvania, recently made history as the first Indian American to play for the United States in the FIFA World Cup game. The young soccer player never loses sight of her goal to encourage young Indian women. ESPN reports that on October 12 in Bhubaneswar, the daughter of an Indian father and an American mother drew attention when she scored probably the finest goal of the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The 16-year-old player from Pittsburgh, who scored the eighth and last goal in the 62nd minute, helped the United States defeat her father’s native nation 8-0. Her aim is to promote better things for women’s football and serve as an ambassador for the sport. According to media sources, Mia stated that India has enormous potential and there’s so much skill here. The world must invest in them more and have faith in young girls and provide them with the opportunities to succeed. “And I believe they can go really far,” she added.

Megan Rapinoe, an American soccer player, also wished Mia on social media when she scored a goal. According to Mia, the comment read, “Yeah, that was crazy. She’s someone that I’ve always looked up to. She’s an incredible player, so I look up to her for her abilities on the field”. According to ESPN, like Rapinoe, the world is also paying attention to Mia Bhuta’s extraordinary narrative, which began years ago with her father, Vyom Bhuta, leaving Rajkot for the United States when he was only 16 to pursue a tennis career and better educational prospects as an exchange student, initially in New York.

Later, Vyom attended college at Mercyhurst, Pennsylvania, where he met Mia’s mother, who was from Pittsburgh. Years later, Mia’s parents were yelling from the stands when their daughter scored against India in India.
