Aviation and Airlines (Commonwealth Union) _ IndiGo has taken the decision to cancel 76 flights operating from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from October 2–8 due to the city’s hosting of a mega air show in celebration of Air Force Day on October 8. The air show, organized by the Indian Air Force, spans from October 3-8, featuring a grand display on the last day. The cancellations affect flights from various cities, including Indore, Raipur, Lucknow, and Dehradun, bound for Prayagraj. Specifically, flights on the Prayagraj-Dehradun, Prayagraj-Indore, Prayagraj-Raipur, Prayagraj-Lucknow routes are slated for cancellation over seven consecutive days.

IndiGo, the airline affected by these cancellations, has communicated the decision, noting that 76 of its flights will be disrupted due to the air show. Additionally, Alliance Air has adjusted its flight schedule in response to the mega air show, opting to delay its flights by one hour.

The air show itself, marking the 91st Foundation Day of the Indian Air Force, promises an impressive spectacle with over 100 aircraft participating, including the renowned Rafale fighter jet. Notably, the Bamrauli Air Station, serving as the venue for the event, has been declared a ‘No Flying Zone,’ prohibiting drone activities within its perimeter.

Authorities have emphasized strict adherence to this restriction, with consequences outlined for those violating the airspace regulations. The event is a significant departure from the traditional air show location of Hindon (Ghaziabad), bringing the spectacle to Prayagraj to enable a broader audience to enjoy the festivities. The expansive Sangam area is expected to accommodate a large number of spectators, offering an optimal setting for the air show.

As the city prepares for this aviation extravaganza, local officials have underscored the importance of compliance with the airspace regulations to ensure the safety and success of the event. With the focus on celebrating the Indian Air Force’s achievements and capabilities, the mega air show is poised to captivate audiences and showcase a diverse array of aircraft, contributing to the grandeur of Air Force Day celebrations.
