ZIMBABWE (Commonwealth Union) – There has been questions about the crisis that has been taking place in Zimbabwe in the last few days. There has been cause for concern and these concerns are now being discussed by the British legislators.

The legislators of Britain through absolute concern for the African country made it a point to question the country’s Minister of State, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Frank Zacharias Robin Goldsmith. The questioning was about the fact that there is continuous persecution of opposition party officials.

This conversation and line of questioning came about because there is to be an election in Zimbabwe next year and there are complaint of many undemocratic practices happening in Harare. This could be a problem as the country was hoping for a peaceful election. Now it’s understood that almost every election will have a hiccup or two but that being said, Zimbabwe was hoping that the upcoming election would not cause any kind of violence amongst its citizens.

Coming back to the questions and answer situation that was taking place, the British Members of parliament also questioned Goldsmith about the steps and measures he was taking to make sure that Zimbabwe had a free, fair and credible election. This has always been the goal to make sure countries have free, fair and credible elections.

It is only normal that the people of Zimbabwe get the best leadership but it’s also important that the people choose who their leadership is. This is why there are regulation set in place for countries to have good and fair elections. It is the people voices that need to be heard. The power-hungry politicians have to be silenced by democracy. This is exactly what will happen when the British MPs ensure that elections will not be rigged in Zimbabwe.
