Hack claims that the general education subjects of the programs promote quick professional entrance while also guaranteeing transferability. The statement released by Hack noted the scope for health and fitness programs. It said, “The program is ideal for students looking to enter the workforce immediately in occupations such as fitness or personal trainer, health education, sports nutrition, strength and conditioning coaching, wellness coordination and many other health and physical fitness-centered fields”.

Hack noted that all specialized subjects in the program are informed by best practices in the field and a deep study of four-year program offerings at New Jersey institutions such as Kean University, Monmouth University, Montclair State University, New Jersey City University, Rider University, Stockton University, and William Paterson University for students who wish to pursue their education in health and fitness field.

The curriculum may also serve as a springboard for a career in physical therapy apart from the fitness industry. Hack’s statement said, “The general education and core course selection in the HES.AS program align well with area transfer institutions and should provide the foundation for seamless articulations”.

The institution presently has four full-time faculty members with the skills to teach the content in the new courses, as well as six adjunct faculty members with qualifications to teach different courses within the new degree program as needed. According to the statement, the Physical Education Center of the college has an enormous fitness center, year-round Olympic-size pool, and different classrooms specialized for physical education courses to support the program goals.

Hack predicted that around 25 students may be enrolled in the program before the end of the year. Hack spoke about the new degree program in the statement. He said, “Middlesex College has long used economic and labor data to identify emerging fields and develop programming that would serve students and fit the academic mission. Given the expected growth of the industry and the global shift to more conscious health awareness, this new degree program will help satisfy the job market in our area”.
