the country’s most prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The award was presented to him by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu at Vigyan Begawan in New Delhi. On receiving the award, the actor dedicated it to his old bus driver friend, late director K Balachander, who introduced him to the film industry and directed his first film Apoorva Raagangal, his brother Sathyanarayana Rao and his filmmakers, producers, theatre owners, technicians and fan followers.
Dhanush won the Best Actor award for his ultimate role in the Tamil film Asuran. This award was also shared by actor Manoj Bajpayee, who won the award for his performance in Bhonsle. Dhanush took to Twitter to share the picture of his prestigious award and commented that he wished to dedicate it to his fans. Sharing the image, he wrote along with heart icons, “To my fans”. With the recent honour, Dhanush has added one more National Awards to his profile. The actor now holds four National Awards.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu honoured the winners with the awards. Actress Kangana Ranaut made history by bagging National Awards for the Best Actress category for Manikarnika in 2019 and Panga in 2020.
