BAYELSA, Nigeria (CWBN)_ It appears that oil and gas facilities belonging to the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) of Nigeria and the Nigerian Agip Oil Company around Ikarama in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have been damaged by explosions in an apparent attack against the facilities. The perpetrators of the attack have not yet been identified.

While the attack is believed to have occurred on Monday, the incident was initially reported on Wednesday (November 25), with reports also indicating that although residents in the area were aware of an issue having taken place on Monday, they were afraid to investigate further due to fears for their safety.

SPDC Spokesperson Michael Adande confirmed the attack and stated that they were working with the government to determine the cause of the incident. He added that the facilities had been shut down to minimise the impact of the explosions.
