Longreach, Australia (CWBN)_Wild weather is hitting hard on larger parts of  New South Wales and Queensland coastline, causing widespread damage washing away beaches,  stranding animals in floodwaters and forcing residents to flee from their homes.

The ‘once- in -100 year’ rain is to hit hard with the heaviest ever falls expected to immerse the region on Sunday night.

Byron Bay’s Main Beach was one of the major areas that sustained heavy damages in the first La Nina rain storm of the season, as the popular spot completely washed away by the high surge.

There is a likelihood of further beach erosion to take place in the coming days with more king surges and big waves forecast.

It comes following residents in nearby Billinudgel woke up to find their cars underwater and streets water-logged.
