USA (Commonwealth Union)_ BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has made a fervent appeal to Indian-origin entrepreneurs to invest in Telangana’s Tier-2 cities, during a high-profile event marking the Telangana Formation Day and BRS’ Silver Jubilee celebrations held in Dallas, Texas. Addressing a packed crowd at the Dr Pepper Arena, which was overwhelmed with enthusiastic Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), many of whom were left outside due to space constraints, KTR called upon the diaspora to contribute meaningfully to their home state’s economic future. From the heart of Dallas, KTR urged NRI investment to boost Telangana’s economy, underscoring both its rapid development and immense potential.

Calling Telangana the most successful “startup state” in independent India’s history, KTR praised the transformative leadership of his father and BRS founder K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). He credited KCR’s vision and perseverance for converting Telangana from a neglected region into one of India’s fastest-growing and most dynamic states within just a decade. “No other state has demonstrated such consistent growth and equity in governance within a short span of time,” KTR stated, adding, “Our state’s journey is the story of determination, resilience, and vision.”

During his address, the former IT and Industries Minister emphasized that while NRIs have achieved great success abroad, they have an equally important role to play in shaping India’s future. He especially encouraged them to consider investment opportunities in the state’s Tier-2 cities, where infrastructure and policy support offer strong potential for innovation and job creation. Reflecting on the history of Telangana’s formation, KTR recounted the 14-year-long struggle led by KCR and reminded the audience of the shared dream that began in 2001, not for personal gain, but for the welfare of four crore Telangana citizens.

In a symbolic gesture that resonated deeply with the audience, KTR declared Dallas as “Dallasapuram” and referred to Texas as the “third Telugu state,” earning thunderous applause from thousands in attendance. Additionally, chants of “Jai Telangana” and “Jai KCR” filled the arena as NRIs jostled to take selfies and greet the visiting leader, reflecting their deep emotional connection with their homeland. He also addressed concerns faced by Telugu students in the US, particularly those impacted by past immigration policies. Announcing the creation of a dedicated legal support cell, KTR assured the community that the BRS would stand by them in their time of need.
Looking ahead, KTR expressed strong optimism about the BRS’ political future, confidently stating that the party would return to power in Telangana within three years, with KCR once again at the helm as Chief Minister. “From humble beginnings, our pink flag now stands for 25 years of pride, self-respect, and progress,” he said. Prior to his US engagement, KTR had earlier spoken at the prestigious Bridge India Conference in London. There, he emphasized Telangana’s balanced approach to development, blending welfare schemes with robust infrastructure. “We focus on institutionalising change and minimising governance dependency on individuals,” KTR said, highlighting initiatives like TS-iPASS, which has streamlined industrial approvals and attracted massive investment into the state. Under BRS leadership, Telangana has emerged as a hub for global tech giants, hosting major campuses of Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta.
KTR cited these milestones as a testament to Telangana’s inclusive and investment-friendly governance. He also highlighted engineering achievements like the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme and Mission Bhagiratha, which have redefined the state’s agricultural and water management landscapes. Sharing economic data, KTR pointed out that Telangana has leaped from 12th to the top position in per capita income in India. He noted that 28,000 industrial permissions granted during BRS rule have led to ₹3.5 lakh crore in investments and 24 lakh jobs. As the BRS celebrates 25 years of its founding, KTR’s global outreach underscores a broader vision: building a strong, self-reliant Telangana through collaboration between its government, people, and global diaspora.
