Pakistan Army Chief calls PM Imran Khan to discuss on national security

Islamabad, Pakistan (CU)_ According to the news from Pakistan Prime Minister’s office, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday called Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Prime Minister’s office stated in an official tweet that Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid, Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence, also attended the meeting.

According to the tweet, national security issues were the key topic of discussion by the Prime Minister, the army chief, and the top intelligence official. The issues relating to national security and the immediate measures to be taken were discussed at the meeting.

The tweet by PM office read: “Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad today. Director General ISI Lt. Gen. Faiz Hamid was also present during the meeting. Matters pertaining to National Security were discussed during the meeting.”

The progress comes two weeks after PM Imran Khan was called by the army chief and DG ISI, and COAS Bajwa vowed to bring to justice the culprits behind the Machh massacre. According to the statement released by the PM Office, the officials addressed the situation of national security and condemned the “unfortunate Machh incident”. They also discussed about the persistent violations of human rights in the Indian Kashmir and the regular violations of the ceasefire over the Line of Control (LoC).
