40 contact centers to follow up the individuals who have missed their second dosage of the COVID-19 vaccination. Additionally, healthcare personnel and people above the age of 50, as well as those who are immunocompromised, will receive booster doses.

Pakistan has still not discovered Omicron, which the World Health Organization categorized as a strain of concern on Friday. The South Asian country reported 377 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, including eight fatalities, bringing the overall death toll of the nation to 28,745, since the beginning of the pandemic. In Pakistan, the virus’s fourth wave peaked in August, and in recent weeks, daily cases have reached a very low level.

According to government figures, over 50.7 million Pakistanis out of a population of 220 million have been completely vaccinated, despite the fact that a considerable percentage have only taken one shot. The NCOC issued an incoming travel restriction to Pakistan last week for seven countries or territories where Omicron was found, including Botswana, Eswatini, Hong Kong, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, and South Africa.
