Islamabad, Pakistan (CU)_ According to officials, Pakistan has named Prof. Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor of Health Services Academy (HSA) Islamabad, to serve as a member of the Policy and Coordination Committee (PCC) of the Special Programme of Research, Development, and Research Training in Human Reproduction (HRP) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The UNDP-UNFPA-UNICEF-WHO-World Bank Special Programme of Research, Development, and Training in Human Reproduction (HRP) is governed by the Policy and Coordination Committee (PCC). According to authorities at the National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination (NHS,R&C), Secretary NHS Aamir Ashraf Khawaja has officially designated Prof. Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan on behalf of Pakistan on the PCC, as the tenure of the two existing members of the PCC under category 3, Burkina Faso and Uruguay, expire on 31 December 2022.
According to NHS officials, the PCC is composed of 15 members, and Pakistan has designated Dr Shahzad Ali Khan VC HSA to serve on this top-level global policy-making international forum headquartered at the World Health Organization’s (WHO) headquarters in Geneva. Dr. Shahzad is a prominent public health specialist holding a doctorate in management sciences, master’s degrees in finance and public health, and a fellowship in public health from the Royal College of Physicians in London.
According to the NHS officials, “Having 28 years of work experience ranging from peripheral level administration to management of tertiary care health facilities, professional expertise of Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan varies from health systems analysis, health management, policy planning, strategic planning, governance, health economics and health financing, health reforms, civil society organizations, project management, human resource development of both the public and private sector workforce”.
Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan told the media that being designated for this top-level global policy-making international forum was a huge honor for him as well as the nation, and that he participated in a two-day virtual meeting of the Policy and Coordination Committee as an observer.
