Paralympic cyclist’s dream to inspire Indigenous Australians with disabilities

(CU)_Amanda Reid, born in Blaxland, New South Wales, represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London in swimming, placing fifth in the 100m breaststroke. Therefore, it was remarkable to watch the young Australian ascend to the top at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo this year, in a completely different sport, para-cycling.  

Wearing an Indigenous design on her cycling jersey on Friday (27 August), the 24-year-old raced her way to the top as she claimed the seventh gold medal for the Trans-Tasman nation at the Tokyo Games, breaking her own record with an electrifying time of 38.487 seconds.
