By Hyderabad Police, two more senior police officials have been arrested in connection with the case of destroying certain computer systems, official data, and phone tapping. During the investigation, Additional DCP Thirupathanna and Additional Superintendent of Police N Bhujanga Rao were arrested, according to a recent official release from Hyderabad police.
The two police officials had worked before as Additional Superintendents of Police in the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and Intelligence Department, respectively.
They were accused of colluding with the suspended DSP of the SIB, D Praneeth Rao, who was earlier arrested by Hyderabad police for allegedly deleting the intelligence information from many electronic gadgets as well as for alleged phone tapping during the previous BRS regime.
According to the release, at the time of questioning, the two police officials admitted to their involvement in the crimes that were reported including conspiracy to monitor private persons illegally by developing their profiles and abusing their official positions, causing the disappearance of evidence by destroying the public property to hide their involvement in collusion with the already arrested D Praneeth Kumar alias Praneeth Rao, DSP (under suspension) and some other people. They also said that further investigation is under progress.
Police said that on the 13th of March Praneeth Rao, accused of developing profiles of unknown people and monitoring the same unauthorizedly, clandestinely, and illegally as well as destroying certain computer systems and official information was arrested.
By the Telangana government, Rao was recently suspended and during the previous BRS dispensation, he was a DSP and was later working in the office of the Director General of Police (DGP). He was earlier accused of tapping the phones of opposition party leaders. Since there was a complaint filed on the 10th of March by an additional superintendent of police of the SIB, a case was registered against Praneeth Rao and others at the Panjagutta police station here on charges of criminal breach of trust by a public servant, causing loss of evidence, and criminal conspiracy
