easy access to finance, technology and raw material, with the aim of making their businesses more productive and innovate, while improving quality and adopting environmentally friendly practices to promote exports, as well as strengthen domestic demand.
Announcing the policy in 2016, the government said: “The objectives of the policy will be met by the department of heavy industries in a time-bound manner by obtaining approval for schemes as per the road map of policy intervention.”
Accordingly, Goyal also encouraged government departments to support India’s textile industry, in order to strengthen their technical efficiency across the manufacturing value chain. On the other hand, the minister urged manufacturers of textile machinery to make the industry vibrant by getting out of the “command-and-control mind-set” and working through a “plug and play” mode.
“India should be looking to become a global player in producing textiles machinery, producing at scale, producing with quality and quantity the machinery of choice that the world requires,” he added, according to a statement issued by Textile Ministry.
