Visakhapatnam, India (CU)_ Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually address the electricity consumers in Visakhapatnam on July 30 at an event that will be hosted as part of the “Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya Power@2047” initiative. As part of the nationwide Azadi Ka amrut Mahotsav, the government of Andhra Pradesh will host Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavisya festivities in all districts from July 25 to July 31. As part of the festivities, the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) reported that the Prime Minister would meet energy consumers in Visakhapatnam on July 30.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Visakhapatnam is selected as a recognition of the AP Power industry and the excellent implementation of the Government of India’s several power initiatives. During the occasion, the Prime Minister will outline his vision for the development of the electricity industry. According to BEE & REC, the Prime Minister will have discussions with the recipients of various electricity schemes via video conference and outline the government’s goal for the power sector by 2047, when the nation commemorates 100 years of independence.

Alok Kumar, Secretary of Power for the Government of India, has already reached out to the chief secretaries of all states, including AP’s Sameer Sharma, requesting their support and the participation of the Energy Department, District Collectors, and all other involved parties in making the event memorable. Piyush Singh, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Power, was designated by the Ministry of Power to manage the preparations for the Prime Minister’s video conference in Visakhapatnam.
Abhay Bakre, director general of the Bureau of Energy, is following the State Government and State Designated Agencies (SDAs) in hosting the event. The State Government has already designated K. Vijayanand, Special Chief Secretary for Energy, as the state coordinator for the celebrations. Sameer Sharma has recommended the District Collectors and other involved parties to take all required measures to ensure the success of the event. The State Energy Department in collaboration with national organizations such as BEE, NTPC, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGIL), and REC has chosen venues for the celebrations and organized an exhibition and short video films on universal access and household integration, one nation-one grid, and renewable energy.
