Chennai, India (CU)_ The long-awaited Ponniyin Selvan trailer has been released. The film’s producers released the trailer at a lavish audio launch ceremony in Chennai. The three-minute long trailer is a collection of multiple larger-than-life shots. The trailer, narrated by Kamal Haasan, explains the tale of the Chola empire and introduces the film’s diverse cast of characters to the audience.
The video, which opens with a majestic shot of a huge kingdom, shows Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, Jayram Ravi, Prakash Raj, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and other lead characters. The video also portrays several war scenes and the wealth of the monarchy. Some scenes of the film feature actors Vikram, Karthi, and Jayram Ravi fighting in a battle, interspersed with a few spoken lines by the film’s other characters. The video concludes with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan seeing a vacant throne.
The film has the best cast, with Vikram portraying Aditya Karikalan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing double characters, and Jayram Ravi portraying the lead character. Additionally, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Prakash Raj also co-star in the film. Ponniyin Selvan was directed by Mani Ratnam, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Elango Kumaravel and B. Jeyamohan.
The historical film based on the 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan written by Kalki Krishnamurthy is produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. AR Rahman is the music director of the film. Ponniyin Selvan was initially made as a single film that was eventually divided into two parts. The first part of the film is scheduled to hit the screens on September 30 in five languages: Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
