Malacañang confirmed on Monday, September 11, that President Ferdinand Marcos will be flying to city-state Singapore this week, in time for his 66th birthday.On 13th September, the day of the President’s birthday, the Palace said President Marcos will speak at the 10th Asian Conference in Singapore, an event hosted by the Milken Institute. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to discuss his administration’s policies and programs at the 10th Asia Summit in Singapore on Wednesday, 13th September.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a statement Monday that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to leave this week for the 10th Asian Conference in Singapore.

His flight to Singapore on 13th September will coincide with his 66th birthday.

President Marcos will stay for at least another four days to watch the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix 2023, “upon the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.”

The President is set to hold meetings in Singapore with business personalities as well, although the Palace did not say who Marcos would meet and when these meetings would take place.

This is President Marcos’ third trip to Singapore in just over a year in office. He initially went in early September 2022 for his second-ever state visit.

The Philippine President whois set to spend his birthday giving a talk in Singapore will be stayingthere for a few extra days to attend the Grand PrixHe is expected to attend the finals of Formula One Singapore Grand Prix 2023, upon the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

In a release, Malacañang said that President Marcos will talk about his government’s “efforts in improving the lives of Filipinos amid challenges from significant global events.”  He is expected to highlight the efforts being made with a view to improve the lives of Filipinos amidst challenges.

The Palace said in a statement that President Marcos Jr. will headline the 30-minute talk at the conference and he will also be the first incumbent Philippine president to address the Milken Institute’s Asia Summit.  The annual gathering will also be addressed by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Before business leaders and economic managers, President Marcos will discuss the country’s priority policies and programs in a 30-minute talk called “A Conversation with the President of the Republic of the Philippines.” 

This year’s Asia Summit will focus on issues about inequality, peace and stability, cultural differences, and irreparable environmental damage.

Aside from attending the summit, President Marcos Jr. will also be meeting with business leaders to strengthen economic ties between the Philippines and Singapore.

Marcos Jr. went to a state visit to Singapore in September 2022. He also returned a month after for the F1 Grand Prix.

The PCO said that Marcos will be the first sitting Philippine leader to address the Milken Institute’s Asia Summit.

He will also meet with business leaders while in Singapore,”to strengthen economic ties and further forge possible partnerships between the two economies in select industries.”

Issues regarding peace and stability, inequality, cultural differences, and irreparable environmental damage are expected to be tackled at the summit.

The Asia Summit hosted by the Milken Institute, holds a decade long work that focuses on public health, environmentalism, economic policy, and globalization.

The Milken Institute is known as a non-profit think tank, that places emphasis on an accelerated progress towards gaining a meaningful life for all.

The event will be livestreamed at the Milken Institute’s website.
