The Prime Minister Internship Scheme, launched by PM Narendra Modi to battle India’s unemployment crisis, is a strategic government initiative designed to facilitate internships for students in India’s top 500 enterprises. By connecting young talents with leading companies, the scheme aims to bridge the gap between education and employment, enhancing the employability of participants across diverse industries.

Over the next five years, the government envisions the successful placement of one crore internships, with opportunities spanning 24 sectors. The oil, gas, and energy sectors lead in offering positions, while significant opportunities are also available in tourism & leisure, automobiles, as well as banking and finance. Notable organizations involved in this initiative include Maruti Suzuki, Reliance Industries, Eicher Motors, Larsen & Toubro, Jubilant Foodworks, and Muthoot Finance. These top companies have been selected based on their commendable records in corporate social responsibility (CSR), ensuring that interns are placed in organizations with a strong commitment to social impact.
