World Mental Health Day, observed on October 10th each year, serves as a global reminder of the importance of mental health and well-being. In a world where the demands of daily life, personal challenges, and global crises can often take a toll on our mental health, this day is an opportunity to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote support for mental health issues. Quite often many challenging situations such as the loss of a loved one, financial crisis and others can lead to a variety of mental health issues. Quite often many facing these situations avoid seeking help due to the stigma and ridicule by society of mental health issues and visiting a psychiatrist or seeking counselling. As stigma can lead to discrimination, reluctance to seek treatment, and social isolation. World Mental Health Day plays a vital role in challenging these stereotypes and promoting open dialogue about mental health.

Mental health encompasses emotional, psychological, and social well-being and affects how we think, feel, and act. Just as physical health is essential for a fulfilling life, so is mental health. Good mental health enables individuals to cope with stress, build resilience, maintain healthy relationships, work productively, and make meaningful contributions to society.
