Qatar Airways Cargo adopts fire-resistant devices for shipment safety

In a bid to improve safety around lithium battery shipments by air, Qatar Airways Cargo will replace its fleet of more than 10,000 unit load devices (ULDs) with fire resistant containers from Safran Cabin, a subsidiary of French aircraft equipment manufacturer Safran that provides cabin interiors, systems, equipment and services.

This actually is a brilliant way of doing it as the dangers are reduced to almost nothing when these measure are taken. It is more or less understood that whilst passengers are now allowed to fly may it be business or pleasure, there are passenger flights still being used as cargo flights when it comes to transporting for the pandemic.

Although the world has now learned to live the new normal this does not mean that the Virus has gone away and that everything is all okay again. There are countries that are still struggling to get their basic need imported in and it is these passenger planes that will help fill the gap.

Qatar Airways has stepped up to the plate to be a cargo carrier but some of this cargo has been identified as lithium battery shipments which is on its own very dangerous. There have been instances where the slightest jostle or move can set these a flame.

Whilst airlines are happy to do these cargo flight they are concerned about the safety of their crew and the other cargo that is on flight and even sometimes passengers. So it was keeping this in mind that these ULD.s were replaced and on the fleet of planes.
