UK (Commonwealth) _ Along with Carlos Alcaraz, Roberto Bautista Agut, Marcel Granollers, Pablo Carreno Busta, world numbers two and three respectively, the 38-year-old former world number 1 Rafael Nadal has been chosen.

Since losing to Novak Djokovic in the singles and Alcaraz in the doubles quarterfinals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Rafael Nadal has not participated in any competitions.

Due to fitness concerns, he pulled out of last weekend’s Laver Cup and the US Open in August. In the quarterfinals, which begin on November 19, Spain—six-time champions with their most recent victory coming in 2019—will play the Netherlands.

Since he would not “be able to give my 100% at this time,” Rafael Nadal was unable to participate in the US Open.

Later, early in September, he announced his withdrawal from the Laver Cup, citing the presence of “other players who can help the team deliver the win”.
In order to concentrate on the Olympics, Nadal also opted not to play Wimbledon and missed the Australian Open in January due to an injury.

Though he stated prior to the French Open that he was not “100%” positive it would be his final appearance at Roland Garros, he had previously made suggestions that he will retire later this year.

The quarterfinals of the Davis Cup will take place on November 19–21. The semifinals will follow on consecutive days, leading up to the final on Sunday, November 24.

Italy, the reigning global champions, will be led by reigning world number one Jannik Sinner as they look to become the first team to win the championship again since 2013.

The Davis Cup Final Eight lineup for Spain now includes former world number one Rafael Nadal, the tournament’s organizers said on Monday.
In addition, Marcel Granollers, Pablo Carreno Busta, Roberto Bautista Agut, Carlos Alcaraz, who is ranked third in the world, will be part of the Spanish team.

When the 38-year-old Rafael Nadal last competed, he was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the second round of the Olympics in Paris. Then, because of fitness concerns, he pulled out of the U.S. Open and the Laver Cup this past weekend. Starting on November 19, Spain will play the Netherlands in the quarterfinals.

The 2024 Davis Cup Final 8 schedule has been released by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The event will take place from November 19–24 at the Palacio de Deportes José María Martín Carpena in Malaga.

Tuesday, November 19, at 1700 CET, Spain will play the Netherlands in the first match of the week. This quarterfinal match will take place at the Amsterdam Arena. On Wednesday, November 20, at 1200 CET, Germany will play 2022 world champions Canada in the other tie in the bottom half of the draw.

On Thursday, November 23, both quarterfinal matches in the top half of the draw will take place. The USA’s match against Australia will take place during the day, and Argentina’s match against the reigning world champions Italy will take place in the evening.

The two surviving teams will play in the 2024 Davis Cup final on Sunday 24 to determine who will be the world champions of this season after the semi-finals on Friday, November 22 Saturday, and November 23 Sunday.

This year’s Davis Cup Final 8 and the Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals will be held in the same location for the first time ever (November 13–20). As a component of a larger collaboration between the ITF and the Region of Andalucia, both events are being held in Malaga.

In 2024, The Finals—formerly called World Group—will serve as the pinnacle of Davis Cup competition. The group stage is scheduled for September 10–15, 2024, and the knockout stage is scheduled for November 19–24, 2024. The matches are played in a single day and are played in a best-of-three rubber format. A doubles match follows the two singles. The reigning champion is Italy.

Some of the biggest names in the game will compete for the title of 2024 world champions as the eight nations vying for the Davis Cup title have revealed their squads for the Final 8 in Malaga, Spain, in November.
