Rawalpindi to get a modern ladies’ college

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan (CU)_ Government Girls Associate College Dhok Dalal, which has a capacity of 1000 students, will become the first ladies’ college in the garrison city to be provided with modern amenities, including modern elevators that students and faculty will use to reach their respective classrooms on the upper floors of the four-story building. An amount of 350 million rupees has been allotted for the immediate completion of the new college that is under construction, while 400 million rupees will be allotted during the third week of October for the launch of the new Waqarun-Nisa Women University, after which the new women’s university will become operational.

In the final week of November, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will officially open the college, which is being constructed on five kanals of land at Dhok Dalal Chowk. In addition, the girls’ college will also include an advanced scientific laboratory and an online library linked to colleges and libraries throughout the world via the internet. The college will also include an advanced computer lab with 70 to 100 modern machines. In addition, it will have all indoor games for the students to indulge in sports activities. The college’s first three stories have been completed, and the fourth floor’s roof will be installed by the end of this week.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, former federal interior minister, observed the ongoing construction of the college building on Thursday. The contractor estimated that the college’s construction would be completed in 45 days. In the coming week, all works related to finishing, plumbing, woodwork, grills, electrical work, and fixing of the elevator will begin concurrently from the bottom floor. Moreover, furniture, science laboratory, and computer lab equipment will be acquired and installed by mid-November, with renovations due to be completed by November 25.

According to the previous federal minister, the Waqarun-Nisa Women University notification had been released. Rashid said: “When the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz came to power in Punjab for two to three months, its funds were withheld.” He added that the funds will be provided by the end of this month, so that arrangements can be made to open the new institution.
