The partnership between Samsung and Signify traces back to 2020, rooted in the launch of Philips Hue’s innovative Play HDMI Sync Box in 2019.

Fascination with how the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box synchronized lighting with on-screen content, significantly enriching the viewing experience. This led to envisioning a collaboration with Signify to seamlessly integrate their products, aiming for an unparalleled cohesive experience. Philips’ in-depth research into lighting’s impact on human perception paved the way for the development of Hue as an intelligent lighting system. Offering adjustable brightness, color temperature, and a wide palette of 16 million colors, this advanced system emerged from their expertise. Partnering with Samsung, a leader in TV manufacturing, provided an opportunity to harness their advanced lighting technology, anticipating innovative solutions for home entertainment. This collaboration led Samsung TVs to become the world’s first to support the Philips Hue Sync TV application. The amalgamation of Philips Hue with Samsung TVs ensures content transcends the screen, enveloping the entire room with synchronized lighting that mirrors every scene in real time. Setting up this experience is now more straightforward than ever. Users simply install the app from the store, affix the light to the TV’s back, and pair it with the TV, eliminating the need for a separate sync box and leveraging the Samsung Smart TV platform.

Previously, synchronization with the Sync Box was confined to the HDMI cable. However, the Philips Hue Sync TV app now facilitates content-to-light synchronization, enabling consumers to effortlessly enjoy this feature across streaming services and video games. The integration of Philips Hue with movies or TV shows delivers an exceptional experience that captivates users. The preference for pairing Philips Hue with horror movies highlights its capacity to entirely alter the ambiance, crafting an immersive and eerie atmosphere that amplifies the viewing experience.
