Shiluka Goonewardene heads Sri Lanka…

Head of Deal Advisory at KPMG – Shiluka Goonewardene was elected President of The Sri Lanka-Singapore Business Council (SLSBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce at the Council’s recently conducted 26th Annual General Meeting. 

Concluding twenty-five years of operation, the SLSBC has effectively executed its mandate to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries since its establishment.  Initiatives under this mandate include the promotion of digitalisation for startups and SMEs in Sri Lanka with the aim of empowering local businesses with advanced tools and technologies as well as streamlining processes for Sri Lankan entrepreneurs to enter the Singaporean market, thereby leading to increased competitiveness and efficiency in the global market. 

Vice Presidents for 2023/24 were also elected by the Council – Tilak Gunawardhana – Chief Financial Officer, MAC Holdings (Pvt) Ltd.,  Nirupa Peiris, General Manager – Sales and Marketing, Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC and Indhra Kaushal – Group Managing Director, Kalhari Group of Companies.

Representatives of member companies Air Global Ltd., Ceylon Grain Elevators Ltd., A. Baur & Co. Ltd., CIC Holdings PLC, Aitken Spence Cargo Ltd., Star Promotions Ltd. and Hemas Hospitals Ltd. were elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Council.

Shiluka Gunawardena who counts over twenty years of experience in the spheres of Corporate Finance, Real Estate Advisory Services, Mergers & Acquisitions and Transaction Services is the Principal for Deal Advisory for KPMG Sri Lanka.

Shiluka served in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group of a multinational Fortune 500 company in the Middle East for a six-year term prior to rejoining KPMG, where he was involved in a number of strategic acquisitions for the group. He has carried out transaction and corporate finance-related assignments and projects in the United Kingdom, China, Turkey, Netherlands, Algeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, the United States, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Iran, India and the Maldives.
