Singapore Airlines (SIA) to offer Free Unlimited… … to KrisFlyer Members

-

SIA will offer free unlimited in-flight Wi-Fi to KrisFlyer member passengers flying in economy class and premium economy class from 1st July 2023.   Chief Executive Officer, Goh Choon Phong said at a media roundtable on Tuesday that the move is a part of Singapore Airline’s efforts at improving its passengers’ flight experiences, which comes after SIA said it would make some changes to its meal offerings such as re-introducing appetizers to economy class meals from the 1st of June 2023.

Singapore Airlines had stated in January that passengers travelling in its Suites, First and Business classes as well as Priority Passenger Service (PPS) Club members would enjoy complimentary unlimited in flight Wi-Fi.  The roll out of free in flight Wi-Fi to KrisFlyer members flying economy and premium economy classes is a step up from Singapore Airline’s increase in Wi-Fi privileges in January, presently giving two hours and three hours of free Wi-Fi respectively. KrisFlyer membership is free.

The airline recently announced that it will bring back appetizers for its economy class main course meals on flights lasting longer than 3½ hours in addition to which they will be served with a main course, a bread roll, cheese & crackers and a dessert.   Mr. Goh stated that SIA increased the weight of its main courses by 30% in April 2022.  This is applicable to flights lasting 3½ hours and above, in response to customers’ feedback requesting larger portions of the main course.  Some passengers called the trial of paper serviceware a cost cutting measure, and compared them to paper meal boxes used by the Armed Forces in Singapore, questioning the drop in the quality of food for economy class passengers.

Mr. Goh said that Singapore Airlines had removed appetizers from its in flight main course as it was revealed by data collected that many passengers did not consume them, hence it was made in a bid to reduce wastage of food.
