Singapore to restore tourist rush from India!

However, for the first two years after Covid, the country’s tourism sector suffered just as much as it did elsewhere in the world. Wong asserted that there are indications that the nation’s tourism business is returning to normal since the beginning of this year, addressing to media representatives in Pune on Thursday. He added that “India has emerged as the second largest source market with 2,19,000 tourists visiting from the country,” noting that the island nation had welcomed over 1.5 million tourists in the first half of 2022. Singapore had received 1.41 million Indian tourists before the outbreak.

To dampen expectations of a further rise in the number of visitors from India, Wong stated that his nation expects Indian tourism to only approach pre-pandemic levels in 2024. He explained that this was an estimate based on the current inflow of Indian tourists. The Singapore Tourism Board is in the process of holding “roadshows” in Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Kolkata in order to increase tourism and bring in more foreign visitors.
