Six Indian American Malayalees to be awarded in New York!

India (Commonwealth Union)_ The Indian American Kerala Cultural and Civic Center, Inc. will recognize six Indian American Malayalees for their remarkable achievements in their profession as well as contributions to society. The awardees will be honored on October 22 in New York at the center’s 30th Annual Awards Banquet. According to a press release, Consul General of India Randhir Jaiswal and New York senators Kevin Thomas and Anna Kaplan will attend the ceremony.

According to Dr. Thomas Abraham, Chairman of the Trustee Board of the Kerala Center and a member of the Award Committee, the Kerala Center has been involved in recognizing remarkable achievements since 1991. In terms of their achievements, this year is no different than prior years. Every year, the center will have a call for nominations, and the committee must select a winner based on a unanimous vote for each category.  

The Chairman of the Board and Award Committee, Dr. Madhu Bhaskaran, said: “Kerala Center is very happy to honor American Malayalees who excel in their professions and who work for social progress – their examples should be an inspiration for others”. The 30th Annual Awards Banquet of the Kerala Center will take place on October 22, 2022, beginning at 5:30 pm at the Kerala Center, 1824 Fairfax Street, Elmont, New York. The Award Committee head was Dr. Madhu Bhaskaran, and also included Drs. Thomas Abraham, Daisy P. Stephen, and Marilyn George.

The 2022 recipients are as follows: Dr. Javad Hassan, Chairman of NeST Group, for Corporate Leadership; Thomas Joy, Suffolk County police officer and president of AMLEU, for Public Service; Dr. Silvester Noronha of MIT, for Applied Science; Bindiya Sabarinath, founder of Mayura School of Arts, for Performing Arts; P. T. Paulose, for contributions to Pravasi Malayalam Literature; and Jose Kaniya, Executive Editor and Partner of Kerala Express weekly newspaper, for contributions to Malayalam media and journalism.
