Queensland Australia (Commonwealth Union)_The world’s largest toad has been found! Dubbed Toadzilla, it was found by park rangers, deep in the rainforest at Conway National Park by accident.  Never having spotted a toad this size, the King of the Toads however, is believed to be a female and when weighed, was a record-breaking 6 pounds.

Toadzilla’s fame was short lived though as being an invasive cane toad species and a threat to Australia’s ecosystem, it was euthanized shortly after discovery, a fate that awaits most toads across Australia. Weighing as much as a new born baby, Toadzilla was toxic and not to be left in the wild unattended, given that it has no predators.

The cane toad population took on gigantic proportions when in 1935, they were introduced as a means to control cane beetles and other pests and had no natural predators.

Cane toads generally grow to about 15 centimeters in size and naturally, Toadzilla proved to be a phenomenon when discovered.
