KINGSTON, Jamaica (CWBN)_ South Korea provided Jamaica with US$300,000 worth Covid-19 test kits and equipment, yesterday (Nov 17).
Accordingly, two 2 ExiPrep 96 Lite devices and RT-PCR tests kits and automatic extraction kits, which will be enable 15,000 tests were handed over to the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton by Lim Baejin, Charge d’Affaires at the Korean Embassy in Kingston.
“The Government of the Republic of Korea recognises the efforts of the Jamaican Government to contain the spread of this deadly virus and the great strides that Jamaica has made in managing this deadly virus. In this regard, the Korean Government has decided to assist Jamaica in a tangible way as a true bilateral friend,” Baejin LIM said.
South Korea also provided 7,500 test kits and two diagnostic machines in April this year.
According to LIM, Korea’s intention is to respond to the needs of Jamaica to curb the virus, and will continue to support the nation, strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Jamaica has reported over 9,950 Covid-19 infections and 231 deaths thus far.
