Stop the pity party!

There will always be drama among players and coaches in a league. The Aussies Footy League is not different, there will always be players who are not very happy or satisfied and there will be coaches who don’t really care how the players are feeling as long as wins are being brought to the team.

It was Ross Lyon the ex-coach for the Saints and the Dockers who made the comment that the pity party needs to stop now and the league to be played and for everyone to move on from whatever drama this was. He claimed that it was normal for there to always be players that are a bit satisfied and that it cannot be helped as not every player and coach can be kept satisfied. Lyons continued to state that “Players don’t appoint coaches, boards and football operation managers do. The first thing you do is get rid of the pity party in the corner that are talking to each other and take ownership of what you can control and your performance.”

Lyons is known to be direct as to what he is thinking and does not hold back if he feels certain things need to be set straight. He agrees that there are mistakes that have been made by coaches in the past and that they have been rectified to an extent. Lyons makes it clear that the burden of stress is carried by the coaches as well and the players of Magpie should not be having this tantrum.

The Magpie team if unhappy with their coach would just have to deal with it as the Board will not go back on their decision. The players must understand that the Board does what’s best for the team and not its individual players.

The Pies are currently 2-7 and sit 16th on the ladder, with a percentage of 85.1.
