Sunak secures key UK-Japan agreement

Europe UK (Commonwealth Union) – Since Brexit was confirmed in referendum, The UK has sort after new international trade deals and partnerships, independent of its former links with the EU. British PM Rishi Sunak and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida have agreed on a landmark new global strategic partnership, known as the ‘The Hiroshima Accord’.

The ‘Hiroshima Accord’ is to focus on UK-Japan economic, security along with tech collaboration UK to step up defense cooperation with Japan to uphold stability in the Indo-Pacific. PM Sunak visited a naval base and attended a business reception in Tokyo prior to travelling to Hiroshima to meet Prime Minister Kishida before G7 Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida agreed on ‘The Hiroshima Accord’ as they met.

British links with Japan has advanced further at a speedier pace more than any other global partner, that indicated the Japanese relations with the UK in the Indo-Pacific.

As a section of the new Accord, the UK together with Japan are set to bring about Semiconductors Partnership, with new agreements to move forward with R&D cooperation and skills exchange, that is set to further cement ties in the domestic areas further boosting supply chain resilience in a more competitive market.

As a section of the defense agreement, it included in the Hiroshima Accord, the British PM is set to include a new Cyber Partnership with Japan.

This is likely to further improve links between the UK and Japan on cyber and setting increased number of goals for the future associations, as Fujitsu UK joins the National Cyber Security Centre’s Industry 100, and the UK and Japan move towards a new Japan Cyber Security Fellowship that will form cyber leaders in the years ahead.

 “It is a privilege to be visiting Tokyo and Hiroshima at this historic moment in the United Kingdom’s relationship with Japan,” said UK Sunak.
