Surprise Valentine’s Day Royal Appearance

-

UK Royals (Commonwealth Union)_Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to make a public appearance on Valentine’s Day.

It looks like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be spending this Valentine’s Day alone. The couple are set to make an appearance on the 14th of February, which will mark their first joint public outing since Prince Harry’s return to LA last week.

The large-scale occasion scheduled in Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s diaries is in aid of the 2025 Invictus Games reported to take place in Vancouver, Canada, over 3 days, and will kick off on Wednesday prior to closing on the 16th of February.

As well as attending the ‘One Year To Go’ event, the couple will also head to British Colombia for the Winter Training Camp in Whistler, where they will meet 2025’s participating nations.

Earlier this year the Invictus Games event was launched in a bid to inspire military veterans to try out winter sports, which will be added to next year’s agenda because the 2025 Games are taking place in Canada between the February 8th and 16th.

The Invictus Games is a foundation that is incredibly close to the Prince’s heart. He founded the international multi-sport games in 2014 for ‘wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans.’

The last event took place in Düsseldorf, Germany, and the Duke and Duchess were both heavily involved in the entire running, and were photographed attending the games and celebrating the closing ceremony together.

The Duke of Sussex spent a brief 26 hours in London after learning of his father, King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis, at the beginning of the month.

The Duke’s flying visit marked his first trip to the United Kingdom this year, and the first in-person meeting with the monarch since the Coronation in May 2023.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will make their first joint appearance on Wednesday since Prince Harry’s return from the UK last week.

The couple are scheduled to attend a launch event for the 2025 Invictus Games this week.

The event will take place over three days from 14th February to 16th February.

Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games as a working member of the Royal Family, and has continued to champion the sporting event in spite of stepping down from the monarchy in 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex produced the series Heart of Invictus as part of their Netflix deal.

The five-episode programme followed the 2022 Invictus Games that were hosted in The Hague.

It comes as a TV executive was hired as the CEO of his first-ever winter edition of Invictus Games by the Duke of Sussex.

Scott Moore has forged a reputation for doing big sports deals during his time at CBC, Canada’s public broadcaster but his appointment may be to secure an alternative TV deal for the 2025 Invictus Games after it failed to gain traction on Netflix.

“We have lately seen how Amazon, Netflix and now Disney have secured the rights to big sporting event TV and they know that there is money and also subscriptions up for grabs with the right sports.

“Now that the Invictus Games has expanded to hosting a winter event too it is beginning to shadow both the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games and can become a major TV event with the likes of Scott behind it.

“Harry and Meghan have the star power to drive the games and as we know it is Harry’s sweet spot and something he is clearly passionate about.

“The documentary he made for Netflix wasn’t the hit hoped for but it did do what it needed to do and inform and educate people about the games, their purpose and their importance too.”
