Mumbai (CWBN)_ The CBI team is once again in Mumbai on Thursday to collect more evidence on the late Bollywood actor Sushanth Singh Rajput’s death case. The CBI has begun its second phase of investigation in the death case with six probe officers back in Mumbai city, shortly after the close family members of SSR wrote to CBI demanding the second opinion of the medical team.

After SSR was found hanging in his Bandra apartment on June 14, initially the Mumbai police had registered an accidental death report and initiated the investigation. However, the CBI took over the probe to the high-profile case in August after the Supreme court’s acknowledgement. Since then, the investigation followed the routes of alleged money laundering and drug angle in connection to the case. The case actually took twist when Sushanth’s father K.K Singh lodged a complaint with Bihar police against actor Rhea Chakraborty and her family members accusing them of abetting his suicide.

A CBI source said that as per the demand of the investigation, a team of officers will be visiting Mumbai at regular intervals to follow up the case, besides the officers from the Mumbai branch.

The remarks came after Varun Singh, son of Sushanth’s lawyer Vikas Singh, wrote to CBI chief R.K. Shukla after the grant of bail to Rhea Chakraborty, late actor’s house manager Samuel Miranda and personal staff Dipesh Sawant in a narcotics related case. His letter to the CBI chief referred to the report of the AIIMS rejecting the possibility of murder and claimed that the forensic examination done by the forensic board is faulty.

He said that he had been following the SSR case on the media and have read the report submitted by AIIMS to CBI. He added that he had visited some doctors who were part of the AIIMS team making statements in media with regard to forensic examination done by the team. The letter too conveyed that there was no response from the AIIMS forensic board in spite of several attempts made to get a copy of the report. He clearly delivered at the end that he is writing this letter on the premise that the report of the AIIMS opinion is correct.

With the CBI investigation on one hand, the AIIMS forensic team also visited Sushanth’s apartment in Mumbai and recreated the crime scene and recorded several people’s statements. On the other hand, the Narcotics Control Bureau registered a case after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) probing the money laundering angle into Sushant’s case found alleged drug chats.

In the end, Varun added his opinion that the mastermind is out on bail now and that has been a big set back to NCB and Sushanth’s case as well. He added that the agency was after a drug syndicate of 1.35 lakh crore in the country and this order would come as a relief to lot of people who are active or facilitating member of the crime syndicate. He said tampering with evidence and influencing of witnesses could be on the cards.
