SWITZERLAND (Commonwealth Union) – All the 80’s and 90’s children will understand the love for trains as we all grew up with creating them in our childhood homes. Toy railways and train were a rage back in the 80’s and 90’s. However, did one ever think that there was possibly a group of kids playing around would one day set the world record for the longest passenger train ever built.

It doesn’t come as surprise that this was finally done. The Swiss are known to be very through in what they do. Therefore, to say that they built the world longest train doesn’t come as a real shock. The train itself is a beauty. The beauty of this machine and the way it was engineered is something to be marveled, considering this probably took a massive amount of sweat and tears. Not to mention the time and the knowledge to be able to put it together.

The train itself is 1.9 Kilo meters (1.2 Miles) long and it has 100 coaches. It just did its tester journey of 25 Kilometers which is roughly about 15.5 miles right through the Alps. It was a great success and the people involved were proud of the monster that pulled through.

Everything came together pretty perfectly for the Swiss as this was not only the highlight of Swiss engineering but the fact that the Swiss were also celebrating 175 years of Swiss railway. The Swiss government has honoured everyone who has worked tirelessly giving up their time and families to make sure that this train was a success.

The world had seen a lot of magnificent things in its time but we are so lucky to be experiencing one of this kind.
