The APCC hosts the second annual breast oncology conference

Hyderabad, India (CU)_ The Apollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC) organized its second Breast Oncology Conference, which was held online. ‘Breast Cancer Treatments — Expanding Horizons’ was this year’s conference title. The conference was organized and attended by the Breast cancer management team members that include Dr Manjula Rao, Consultant Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon; Dr Sapna Nangia, Senior Consultant Radiation Oncology, Lead HnN, Breast, Gynecology; and Dr Bhawna Sirohi, Senior Consultant & Lead, Medical Oncology. The two-day virtual meeting drew more than 40 prominent physicians from around the world.

Executive Vice Chairman of Apollo Hospitals, Preetha Reddy, launched the conference by inspiring the physicians and complementing the conference’s theme of ‘expanding horizons’. With his opening speech, Harshad Reddy, APCC’s Director of Operations, addressed the attendees and emphasized the necessity of constructive discussion and communication among oncologists regarding recent advances in the profession.

Additionally, the meeting marked the launch of APCC’s Relationship & Intimacy Clinic. Guest of Honour Dr Rajendra Badwe, Director of Tata Memorial Centre, virtually inaugurated the facility. Prof (Dr) GK Rath, Director of National Cancer Institute, Jhajjar Chief Radiologist and Professor, Head Department of Radiation Oncology, Dr BRA Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital, New Delhi, was the other distinguished guest of the conference.

Furthermore, the conference featured several speakers including Venkat Ramakrishnan, Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Head of the Breast Reconstruction Service at St Andrews Centre for Plastic Surgery in Chelmsford, UK; Dr Rachel Jimenez, Associate Program Director at Harvard Radiation Oncology Residency Program in Boston, MA, USA; Dr Raghavan Vidya, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at Royal Wolverhampton Hospital & Spire Little Aston Hospital in Birmingham, UK; and Dr Regis Resende Paulinelli, Mastology, Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon, Federal University of Goias & Araujo Jorge Hospital, Goiania, Goias, Brazil; Dr Apurna Jegannathen, Clinical Oncologist, University Hospital of North Midlands & The Nuffield Health North Staffordshire Hospitals, UK; Sankaran Narayanan, Consultant, Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, University Hospital, North Staffordshire, UK; and Dr Giuseppe Curigliano, Professor, Medical Oncologist, University of Milano & HOD, Early Drug Development, European Institute of Oncology, Italy.
