The Wyoming Joint Education Committee talks cost of education

GLOBAL – There has been inflation around the world and countries are struggling along with its people as it becoming too expensive just to live. Most people are cutting down on their spending so that basic things that have now become a luxury can be afforded.

Wyoming has seen the fact that retaining educators who provide quality education are running low. As there are better paying job opportunities outside of the United States. This means that teachers are leaving and the United States is losing out on quality educators because of nothing but the pay.

The focus on the education budget has been the talk of the government for a while now. There are questions such as will there be budget cuts and if so which part of the education system will have cuts. Will there be enough to run all programmes.

These are all valid questions that are being asked. The Wyoming Joint Education Committee held its meeting earlier this week to make a final decision about what has to be done.

Sen. Chris Rothfuss made the statement that “We all know that we need more funding to keep the quality we have right now. But nobody is really willing to engage in the conversation about where that funding is from. The reality is that we have to diversify our tax base we have to become less reliant on coal, oil, and gas for the future of revenue, and that means changes for our tax structure.”

Sen. Charles Scott also commented the following “They are very luxurious. We have spent since the Campbell decision and this probably doesn’t include the spending over the last few years. We have spent over $3.9 billion on school capital construction. It is my judgment that we could have gotten by with less than half of that and done perfectly well. It has turned into a pork barrel process.”
