Mumbai, India (CU)_ Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar turned 50 this year. Stepping into the 50s, the filmmaker threw a lavish birthday bash at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai to his celebrity friends of the B town. The grand party was attended by almost all top bollywood stars. However, those who were missing had valid excuses. Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone were the most notable absentees. Alia is overseas shooting her Hollywood debut, Heart Of Stone, and Deepika is now serving as a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival.
Shah Rukh Khan, a close pal of Karan Johar, was also absent from the red carpet; but his wife Gauri posed for photographs. Gauri Khan, the best pal of Karan Johar, appeared at the party without Shah Rukh Khan, who was at the party but stayed away from the cameras. Kajol and Anushka Sharma also attended the function without their partners. Almost every star in the industry was there at Karan Johar’s lavish birthday celebration. Salman Khan led the celebrity roster, with whom the director apparently had icy ties in the past.
The newlyweds Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal, who tied the knot in December, were also in attendance. Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan entered as a gorgeous pair, having just returned from Cannes; Abhishek and Karan Johar are childhood friends. Ranbir Kapoor arrived with his mother Neetu. Neetu’s co-stars in the forthcoming film JuggJugg Jeeyo, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani, stood together on the red carpet. Hrithik Roshan was accompanied by his girlfriend Saba Azad, while his ex-wife Sussanne Khan was accompanied by her lover Arslan Goni.
The stars of the highly anticipated new film Laal Singh Chaddha arrived with their pairs; Karan Johar’s close pal Kareena Kapoor was accompanied by her husband Saif Ali Khan, and Aamir Khan went with his ex-wife Kiran Rao, who is also a close friend of the birthday boy. Karan and Kareena have one of Bollywood’s most legendary friendships and professional partnerships.
The other notable stars and closest friends of Karan Johar who attended the party are Shweta Bachchan, Farah Khan, Rani Mukerji, Malaika Arora, and Manish Malhotra. The present generation stars Ananya Panday, Navya Naveli Nanda, Shanaya Kapoor, Suhana Khan, siblings Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim, Janhvi Kapoor and others were dazzling at the party.
