Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_ In recent months, persistent rumors of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s divorce have stirred considerable speculation on social media. The latest development in this ongoing saga came when a misleading video falsely claimed that Abhishek Bachchan had announced a separation from Aishwarya. This video, which quickly went viral, intensified the rumors surrounding their relationship. In response to these allegations, Abhishek Bachchan, currently in Paris for the 2024 Olympics, took the opportunity to address the situation directly. In a candid video statement, Abhishek clearly dismissed the divorce rumors. Showing his wedding ring as evidence, he declared, “I am still married to Aishwarya. I don’t have anything to say to you all about that [the rumors]. You all have blown the entire thing out of proportion, sadly. I understand why you do it. You have to file some stories. It’s okay, we’re celebrities, we have to take it. Still married, sorry.”

The speculation about the couple’s relationship gained momentum after several incidents, including their separate appearances at the high-profile Ambani wedding and Abhishek’s ambiguous reaction to a post about divorce cases. Additionally, an AI-generated video falsely depicting Abhishek confirming a divorce added fuel to the fire. In the broader context of public interest in the Bachchan family, actress and MP Jaya Bachchan recently made headlines with her objections to being referred to as ‘Jaya Amitabh Bachchan’ in the Rajya Sabha.

Concurrently, an old video of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan resurfaced, in which she responded to being called ‘Rai Bachchan’ post-marriage. In the video, Aishwarya addressed the issue by saying, “Ohoo…that title is…my god! Just regular Aishwarya, the way you have known me.” When asked if ‘Rai Bachchan’ was her official surname, she clarified, “Aishwarya Rai as it has been professionally known, who got married to Abhishek Bachchan. So, obviously, Aishwarya Bachchan. Make what you want to make out of it.”

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who married in 2007, have been a prominent couple in Indian cinema. They welcomed their daughter, Aaradhya, in 2011 and have worked together on various successful projects, including Guru, Kuch Naa Kaho, and Dhoom 2. Despite the recent rumors and speculation, the couple’s statement and their ongoing commitment to each other reaffirm that they remain happily married.
