Two MoUs inked between Bangladesh and Kenya

Dhaka, Bangladesh (CU)_ In a major attempt to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations, Bangladesh and Kenya signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) for bilateral political consultations and cooperation between their respective Foreign Service Academies. Masud Bin Momen, foreign minister of Bangladesh, and Moi Lemoshira, assistant secretary of the Kenyan foreign ministry, signed the documents on behalf of their respective countries at the foreign service academy in the capital.

Prior to the signing session, a ten-member Kenyan team headed by Lemoshira participated in the inaugural Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) with a Bangladesh mission headed by the foreign ministry’s secretary (East), Mashree Binte Shams. Lemoshira stated at the FOC that the talks will help discover new areas of cooperation as well as deepen the current relations. He stated that in addition to diplomatic ties, there is a growing need to strengthen economic and commercial ties.

Kenya emphasized the need for creating economic ties and signing a joint trade deal with Bangladesh. Both parties pledged to advance collaboration in sectors such as agriculture, particularly contract farming, information technology (IT) exchanges, education, youth cooperation, air connectivity, blue economy, investment authority cooperation, and food security. Shams informed the team of Bangladesh’s amazing socioeconomic progress in recent years.

Shams emphasized the possibility of knowledge sharing and training in the fields of agriculture, information technology, women’s empowerment, and UN peacekeeping. Both parties also agreed to continue collaboration on bilateral and international platforms such as the United Nations, Commonwealth, and IORA. In addition to participating in discussions with government agencies and leading business chambers, the Kenyan team is also expected to tour export processing zones and manufacturing firms in Bangladesh.
