Both the UK and Malta reiterate their unwavering support for a just and lasting two-state solution to the Middle East conflict between Israel and Palestine. The proposal includes sanctions beyond the Council of Europe. Malta’s 2025 presidency took key initiatives in this regard. They were both in agreement about the establishment of the Special Tribunal.
On 19 May 2025, the UK and Malta welcomed the UK-EU Summit and its establishment of a new EU-UK Strategic Partnership. This reconfirmed shared values besides the commitment to deeper cooperation. This development took place against the backdrop of an evolving & complex global geopolitical landscape. The 2 countries aspire to facilitate an ambitious, dynamic UK-EU relationship, which meets the needs of their citizens. Our goal includes the swift implementation of the Common Understanding. This initiative becomes a renewed agenda for European Union–United Kingdom cooperation besides the UK-EU security & defence partnership.
