multiple setbacks and unfortunately has failed to perform on the field. His constant underperformance has caused turmoil amongst fans and critics. In order to recover from this lean patch, he abstained from India’s tour of the Windies, gearing up to strike at the Asia Cup.

Former all-rounder of the Indian Cricket Team Irfan Pathan voiced that more importance should be given to the T20 World Cup where it is vital for Kohli to be in top form in order for India to emerge victorious.

“As far as the mind is concerned, what Virat Kohli will be thinking, what kind of mind-set he will be coming in with and playing the matches, I think yes, Asia Cup is very, very important but when I look forward to the World Cup, where the pitches will be very, very good in Australia, which he likes, he thrives on Australian pitches, he’s done really well,” Pathan said on Star Sports’ show ‘Gameplan’.

Pathan further mentioned that it would be win-win for both the Indian Cricket Team and Virat Kohli if he performed well at the Asia Cup as he would then be in top form for the World Cup.

When questioned about what would happen if Kohli failed to revert to his original stance during the Asia Cup, Pathan clearly stated that the management should look at other options as anyone not in form should not be considered for the World Cup as it is not possible to transform during a tournament of that calibre Pathan, however, did state that he is highly confident that the Asia Cup will be yet another turning point in Kohli’s career, and that he will flourish.
